Where I feel best: teaching

Where I feel best: teaching

About Me

My name is Adam Knoerzer, and I'm a wine educator and consultant based in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

The goal of 'Burghundy is to make wine more fun and accessible locally and beyond. Through my classes, services, and posts, I hope to help more people enjoy delicious wines -- at any price point. From Chile to France and Australia to Canada, I am excited to share with you some of the amazing wines this world has to offer. While I certainly respect the ‘classics’ and give them their rightful due, my aim is to make wine more inclusive of all people and places making it, not just a select few.

What I Do

You can find me teaching classes, animating wine dinners, and engaging in wine events throughout the greater Pittsburgh region and beyond. Please consult my Class & Event Calendar for more information and to book your spot today!

I also write wine-related articles, as well as create and refine wine lists and consult for various local restaurants and wine bars. If you’re looking for a private event, such as an in-home class or a corporate party, I’m happy to do that, too. For further details on my services and rates, simply drop me a line through my Contact form, or shoot me an email at adam@burghundy.com.

Qualifications

I’m a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, and I’ve achieved the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Level 2 Award in Spirits, both with Distinction. I have also partially completed the WSET Diploma program, the highest level offered within their system. Because I understand the value of firsthand knowledge and experience, I’ve visited over 20 wine-producing regions on 5 continents, and I look forward to continued exploration and education. Additionally, I was the United States champion in the 2019 Wines of South Africa Sommelier Cup — South African wine being my true passion and concentration. I’m also bilingual in French, and I’m highly proficient in Portuguese and Spanish.

Cheers, everyone!

Please note: ‘Burghundy does not sell wine in Pennsylvania. Should you have inquiries about purchasing wine, I am happy to direct you to the appropriate outlets for your needs.
